Freelance Job Opportunities for English-to-Chinese Translators

Nanjing Marketing Group is constantly looking to add new English-to-Chinese translators to our team. We hire freelance translators to translate a wide variety of material for websites, as well as video games and mobile applications.

As a marketing company, we know that translation accuracy is important, but we also know that our end goal is to write for the reader and meet our client's business goals. For example, if we translate a website that sells tour packages to Canada, our goal is to sell tour packages to Canada. In most cases, the Chinese text we produce is better than the original English text on the client's website. We're that good, and we expect you to be that good too!

That being said, we don't expect you to know everything necessary to write the perfect copy for a client website. As a freelance translator working on a project for us, you will be part of a team that may involve other translators, our copywriter and Internet marketing specialists in various fields.

Our typical translation process is as follows:

1. Planning: We discuss the project with the client. A translation plan is decided on, including which pages are to be translated, which aren't, and what kind of new material should be added. This step also often involves the input of one of our search engine marketing specialists.
2. Translation: We describe the project to one of the freelance translators we work with in detail. They then translate the text.
3. Editing: Our in-house translator edits the text. She wants to see that there are no errors, the translation is complete and that the text is well-written.
4. Polishing: Our copywriter further modifies the text. She takes a bit more liberty in modifying the text than a translator usually does.

Applicants must:

• Have at least 3 years of translation experience.
• Be native speakers of Mandarin Chinese.
• Have a genuine interest in writing the best Chinese text possible.
• Complete a sample translation that we will provide.

In addition, the following attributes would also be beneficial:

• Experience writing sales copy for websites or any other marketing materials.
• Experience translating video games. A strong interest in video games.
• Experience with Internet marketing, such as SEO, PPC and social media.
• Experience with website development or design.
• The ability to write or edit HTML and CSS.
