Our Team

The Nanjing Marketing Group team is composed of professionals in Chinese-English translation and online marketing.

Tait Lawton (骆泰特)

A Chinese-English translator and entrepreneur, Tait Lawton was born and raised in Canada and has studied Mandarin Chinese for over a decade. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in international business from University of Alberta, including studies abroad in Nanjing University, he has worked in sales, marketing and translation positions. As a translator, he focuses on business and marketing materials. The end clients of his translations include major real-estate, advertising, government and media organizations. He also founded the popular travel website Synotrip.com which serves as a platform to connect English-speaking tourists with independent Chinese tour guides, bypassing the tour industry’s traditional middlemen.

Nanjing Marketing Group (NMG) was founded by Tait in 2009 with the specific goal of aiding Western companies reach Chinese consumers online. As founder, Tait’s role in NMG is varied, but from the client’s perspective, Tait works as an account manager. Tait works very closely with the translation and/or marketing teams to create a final product that meets client goals while attracting and retaining Chinese customers.

Eric Yao (姚志国)

Eric Yao, CEO of online marketing and e-commerce company HowV, is one of China’s first website optimization and new media marketing professionals. After graduating with a master’s degree in computer sciences from Ghent University of Belgium, he first worked in the electronic banking department of China Merchants Bank and later founded HowV in order to provide Chinese clients with modern online marketing services. He is the author of the Chinese-language books “Network Finance” and “SEO Magic Book.” He also hosts some of the largest online marketing conferences in China including the Search Marketing Expo – China (SMX China).

At HowV, his clients included Coca-Cola, Microsoft and Disney. He now focuses mostly on the travel industry serving such clients as the Jiangsu Provincial Government, China Travel Service (CTS) and Lijiang City Government. As part of the Nanjing Marketing Group team, his role is that of a producer - he implements the marketing campaigns.

Samantha Wang (王婉)

Born and raised in China, Samantha has a Bachelor of Management from Nanjing University of Technology and a rare talent for understanding and communicating in English. She makes use of her experience in sales, marketing and management as well as her insight into people to come up with creative translations for difficult marketing and branding translations. Samantha is now the primary in-house translator for NMG’s English-to-Chinese projects.
